Background on SolarCoin
SolarCoin is a project of the SolarCoin Foundation. It is pursuing the use of solar energy around the world for an energy future without CO2 emissions - thanks to the progress made in the blockchain. The foundation rewards all solar producers with blockchain-based, digital tokens:
1 SolarCoin (SLR) = 1 MWh generated solar energy.
It is free of charge and independent of other incentives solar plant owners may be entitled to (eg government subsidies, feed-in tariffs, green certificates, tax incentives, emission allowances, etc.). SolarCoin is global, decentralized and independent of any government.
SolarCoin has similarities to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. But it is different, more tangible, more concrete: The payment of SolarCoin as digital coins is linked to real economic and ecological value: demonstrably produced solar energy in MWh. To be able to receive SolarCoins, you, the plant operator, must register your solar system with the SolarCoin Foundation. On the basis of the available production data, the Foundation issues SolarCoins to the owners or plant operators. We support and accompany you in this process.
